Whitepaper v1.4
01

Abstract

Alibi Protocol is a blockchain-anchored civil rights protection layer for drivers. It combines real-time AI legal guidance, tamper-proof evidence recording, and a DePIN earn-while-you-drive network built on Solana.

The protocol is the first system to give civilians cryptographic proof-of-existence for encounter evidence. When a traffic stop occurs, Alibi activates in-vehicle recording, immediately hashes the evidence to SHA-256, anchors that hash to the Solana blockchain via the Memo Program, and simultaneously provides state-specific constitutional guidance powered by Claude AI — all in real time, with zero network latency requirements.

Users earn $ALIBI tokens by driving with the app active, creating a decentralized network that grows coverage, safety insight, and evidence availability. The token is not speculative — it fuels protocol governance, evidence vaulting, and access to AI legal guidance.

02

The Problem

Why Constitutional Rights Need Cryptographic Proof

In the United States, over 20 million traffic stops occur annually. Each one is a constitutional flashpoint: Is consent to search valid? Did the officer articulate reasonable suspicion? What amendments apply in this state?

The Evidence Asymmetry
Law enforcement agencies control dash-camera and body-camera footage. Civilians have no standardized, tamper-proof method to record their own evidence. If a recording exists, the burden of proof lies with the individual to prove authenticity — not with authorities to prove the recording was unmanipulated.
  • No civilian standard for tamper-proof evidence: Smartphones can be confiscated. Recordings can be deleted. Metadata can be spoofed. There is no cryptographic commitment to prove "this recording was made at this time and has not been edited."
  • Zero real-time legal guidance: Constitutional law is state-specific. A driver pulled over in Texas has different rights than one in New York. Under stress, few remember their amendments or landmark cases. No tool exists to provide immediate, accurate, state-aware legal advice during an active encounter.
  • Constitutional complexity under stress: The Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments are dense. Citizens do not memorize *Miranda v. Arizona*, *Terry v. Ohio*, or *Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District*. A civilian facing an officer must improvise their defense — often unsuccessfully.

Alibi Protocol solves this. It anchors evidence to the immutable Solana blockchain, provides AI-powered constitutional guidance in real time, and empowers civilians with the same cryptographic proof standard that banks use for financial records.

03

Protocol Architecture

Three-Layer Stack: Record → Hash → Anchor

Alibi operates as a three-layer distributed protocol: the Recording Layer (local evidence capture), the Intelligence Layer (real-time AI legal guidance), and the Immutability Layer (blockchain anchoring).

Layer 1: Recording Layer
Mobile-native capture and local storage. The Alibi mobile app uses expo-camera and expo-av libraries to capture high-fidelity video and audio from the device camera and microphone. Recordings are stored in the app's sandboxed directory — not synced to cloud, not transmitted until user confirms. Raw MP4 video + WAV audio bytes are hashed immediately upon completion.
Layer 2: Intelligence Layer
Real-time AI legal guidance via Claude. While recording is active, the app streams the encounter context (user's description, officer's statements, GPS location) to Claude Sonnet 4 (claude-sonnet-4-20250514) via the Anthropic API. The AI system prompt is dynamically generated based on: (a) GPS reverse geocoding to determine jurisdiction/state, (b) applicable state constitutional law, (c) relevant landmark cases for that state. Temperature is set to 0.3 (accuracy prioritized over creativity). Max output is 300 tokens — short, actionable guidance under stress. If network is unavailable, the app falls back to a cached constitutional summary.
Layer 3: Immutability Layer
SHA-256 hash anchored to Solana blockchain. After recording stops, the app computes SHA-256(video_bytes + audio_bytes + metadata). This hash is immediately submitted to the Solana Memo Program (address: MemoSq4gqABAXKb96qnH8TysNcWxMyWCqXgDLGmfcHr) in a single transaction with format: ALIBI_INCIDENT:{sha256_hash}. The Solana block time becomes the immutable timestamp. User receives a Solscan link proving blockchain anchoring.

The evidence chain: Record → Hash → Anchor → Verify. Any modification to the recording changes the SHA-256 hash, breaking the chain. Solscan's public ledger makes forensic verification trivial.

04

Evidence Integrity Model

Tamper Detection & Cryptographic Commitment

The integrity of Alibi evidence rests on three immutable foundations: cryptographic hashing, blockchain anchoring, and public verifiability.

Hash Algorithm
SHA-256
NIST-approved cryptographic hash function. Any 1-bit change to recording breaks hash.
Blockchain
Solana
PoH consensus. Block time is immutable timestamp. Zero chain reorg risk post-finality.
Transaction Format
Memo
Public, queryable. Solscan verification available to any third party.

Transaction format:

ALIBI_INCIDENT:a3f4b2c9d7e1f8a6b5c4d3e2f1a0b9c8d7e6f5a4b3c2d1e0f9a8b7c6d5e4

Tamper detection: If a user later claims they were denied access to their recording, they can generate a SHA-256 hash of their recovered file and compare it to the Solana-anchored hash. If they match, the recording is authentic. If they differ, the recording has been modified post-submission.

Solscan verification link: Upon successful anchoring, the app generates a link: solscan.io/tx/{transaction_signature}. Any attorney, journalist, or court officer can verify the incident hash and timestamp without trusting the user, the app, or Alibi Protocol itself.

05

AI Legal Guidance Engine

State-Specific Constitutional Advice Under Stress

Alibi's AI legal engine is powered by Claude Sonnet 4 (claude-sonnet-4-20250514) — a low-latency, high-accuracy LLM optimized for live conversations and complex reasoning. The system is purpose-built for real-time police encounters.

Model Selection
Claude Sonnet 4 is selected for: (1) Low latency (<2s response time), (2) High factual accuracy on constitutional law, (3) Ability to cite specific amendments and cases. Not GPT-4o (higher hallucination risk on legal facts). Not GPT-3.5 (insufficient reasoning).
  • System Prompt (Dynamic): Generated at runtime based on GPS coordinates. Reverse geocoding returns the user's state. System prompt includes: (a) applicable state Bill of Rights, (b) landmark case summaries for that state, (c) local police procedure norms, (d) examples of valid consent vs. invalid consent.
  • Temperature: 0.3 — Accuracy is prioritized over creativity. Legal guidance must be precise, not imaginative.
  • Max Tokens: 300 — Under stress, a driver cannot read a 2,000-word legal essay. Guidance is SHORT and actionable: "You have the right to refuse searches of your vehicle without a warrant. Do not consent."
  • Fallback (Offline): If network is unavailable, the app serves cached constitutional summary (basic Fifth and Fourth Amendment primers) from local storage. Not as detailed as live AI, but functional.
  • Citations: Every AI response includes specific amendment references and case names. Example: "Per *Terry v. Ohio*, 392 U.S. 1 (1968), the officer must articulate reasonable suspicion to conduct a stop."

Important disclaimer: Alibi provides legal *information*, not legal *advice*. The AI guidance is educational only. For specific legal situations, users must consult a licensed attorney.

06

DePIN: Proof-of-Coverage-Navigation (PoCN)

Dynamic Rewards That Build Global Coverage

Alibi's DePIN layer transforms passive driving into active participation in the world's largest decentralized road data network. Users earn $ALIBI tokens through Proof-of-Coverage-Navigation (PoCN) — a dynamic reward system that prioritizes network value creation over flat activity.

PoCN vs Traditional Mining
Traditional DePIN rewards flat activity — drive more, earn more, regardless of where or when. PoCN rewards coverage value. A driver filling a gap in rural Mississippi at 2am earns up to 30x more than a driver in downtown Manhattan at noon. The network self-optimizes toward maximum geographic coverage with zero central coordination.
Dynamic Multipliers
Coverage Gap (1x→10x): Inversely proportional to hex density. Solo driver in a hex = 10x. 50 drivers = 1x. Network self-heals gaps.

Night Shift (1x→3x): 10pm–6am driving earns up to 3x. Police encounters are statistically more frequent and more dangerous at night.

Consistency (1x→2x): 7-day streak = 2x on day 7. 30-day streak = 2x all month. Rewards habitual contributors.

Data Richness (1x→1.5x): More active sensors = higher reward. Camera, microphone, full suite bonus.
Proof-of-Witness
When a driver activates Emergency Mode, nearby Alibi users within a 1-mile radius receive an encrypted proximity alert. Their apps automatically begin corroborating evidence — GPS confirms law enforcement presence at that location, audio sensors detect sirens, cameras capture independent angles. Multiple independent devices create a cryptographic mesh of interlocking evidence, each independently hashed and anchored to Solana. Witness Nodes earn a 50x reward multiplier. This is the first real-time, location-triggered mesh verification system in any DePIN protocol.
Base Reward
1 $ALIBI/mi
Distance-based (harder to game than time-based). Hardware-attested GPS required.
Emission Schedule
5-Year Halving
Year 1: 140M. Year 2: 84M. Year 3: 50M. Year 4: 42M. Year 5: 34M. 1% perpetual tail emission.

Anti-Gaming Protection: Six layers of protection: hardware attestation (Play Integrity / App Attest), proximity sybil detection (vector collision), GPS jitter analysis (spoofing detection), minimum 1 mile per session, route variance decay (same daily route = diminishing returns), and accelerometer-GPS correlation (speed vs vibration cross-check).

55% → Stakers & Verification Nodes (real yield from enterprise revenue). 25% → Treasury (DAO-governed development fund). 10% → Burn (10% base rate, governance-adjustable up to 20% — permanent, on-chain, revenue-proportional). 10% → Growth Fund (user acquisition, partnerships, and marketing).
08

Security Architecture

Hardware Attestation, Key Management & Network Hardening

Alibi's security model is multi-layered, defending against Sybil attacks, device spoofing, GPS manipulation, and key compromise.

Layer 1: Hardware Attestation
Native Device Verification. Alibi refuses to issue $ALIBI tokens to rooted (Android) or jailbroken (iOS) devices. We utilize Google Play Integrity API (Android) and Apple App Attest (iOS) to verify device integrity at runtime. Emulators, which lack hardware-backed keys, are rejected.

Secure Enclave Storage: All user private keys are stored in the Secure Enclave (iOS) or Android Keystore. No software hack can extract raw private keys. Transactions are signed on-device; keys never leave the phone.
Layer 2: Proximity Sybil Resistance
Vector Collision Detection. The backend monitors velocity vectors of every earning device. If 10 devices travel at the *exact* same speed and *exact* same GPS trajectory within a 5-meter radius, the network flags a Proximity Conflict and only rewards one device.

Bluetooth/WiFi Sniffing: The app scans for nearby Alibi devices via Bluetooth. If multiple devices are consistently co-located while moving, they are marked as a single earning entity and rewards are pooled.
Layer 3: Proof-of-Movement (PoM)
Dynamic Speed Tiers:
  • • 0-5 MPH: Zero-Reward Zone (Stationary/Walking)
  • • 5-110 MPH: Optimal Earning Zone (Driving/Cycling)
  • • 110+ MPH: Anti-Exploit Zone (Airplanes/Trains flagged as fraud)
GPS Spoofing Shield: App detects Location.mocked flags and analyzes GPS "jitter." Real driving produces micro-vibrations in GPS data; fake GPS produces perfect straight lines. Spoofed data is rejected.
Layer 4: Economic Security
Liquidity Locking: LP tokens locked for minimum 24 months on Raydium, verifiable on-chain. Vesting: Team tokens (12mo cliff, 48mo vest) and Community Launch (3mo cliff, 12mo vest) locked in on-chain programs. Anti-Whale: Initial DEX trades capped at 0.5% of total supply. Mint Authority: Permanently revoked — no new tokens can ever be created. Freeze Authority: Permanently revoked — no wallet can freeze any holder's balance.

Emergency Protocols: In the event of a discovered exploit, the DAO multisig (3-of-5) can initiate an emergency pause with a 48-hour timelock. No single wallet holds unilateral control. Accounts confirmed to be GPS spoofing have their earned rewards slashed and devices permanently blacklisted from the network.

09

Governance & DAO

$ALIBI Holders Vote on Protocol Parameters

Alibi Protocol is governed by its community of $ALIBI token holders through a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Long-term protocol decisions are delegated to token holders, not retained by the founding team.

  • Voting Power: Proportional to staked $ALIBI in Verification Nodes. Staking aligns governance power with network commitment.
  • Proposal Threshold: 100,000 staked $ALIBI minimum to submit a proposal (adjustable via governance).
  • Quorum: Proposals require 30% of total staked tokens to participate. Simple majority (50%+1) wins.
  • Voting Period: 7 days per proposal. Execution occurs 2 days after passing (timelock for security).
  • Controllable Parameters: PoCN reward multipliers, Coverage Map hex resolution, Data Marketplace pricing tiers, revenue split ratios, emission schedule adjustments, and emergency protocol thresholds.
Sample Governance Proposals
  • → 'Increase Coverage Gap Multiplier from 10x to 15x for hexes with zero 30-day coverage'
  • → 'Add barometric pressure data as a new Marketplace data stream'
  • → 'Onboard State Farm as a Tier 1 Data Marketplace partner'
  • → 'Expand PoCN to include bicycle riders and electric scooters'
  • → 'Allocate 2% of Treasury to sponsor open-source dashcam hardware'

The DAO structure ensures that long-term protocol development reflects community values, not founder preferences. As the user base grows, governance becomes increasingly decentralized.
